 When do hospitals and surgical centers need to start collecting baseline data and PROMs?

April 2024 Start of Mandatory PROMs Collection

Hospitals and Surgical Center needs to collect patient-reported outcome data preoperatively, less than 90 days prior to surgery.

 

July 2024 Procedures Window Start

Elective THA and TKA procedures performed between July 1, 2024 and Jun 30, 2025 require PRO survey collection.

 
July 2025 Mandatory Post-Ops PROMs Collection

Hospitals and Surgical Center needs to collect patient-reported outcome data post-preoperatively, 300-425 days after surgery.

How will hospitals and surgical centers be scored?

CMS will publicly report the percentage of patients who achieve a substantial clinical benefit (SCB)

  Pay for performance, failure to successfully collect and report PROMs to the THA/TKA PRO-PM will result in a ¼ reduction in your annual Medicare payment update.
  50% of patients must have both the preoperative and 1-year post-operative PRO data collected. APU is impacted by successfully meeting this capture rate.
  The thresholds are set at 22 points for HOOS, JR and 20 points for KOOS, JR. CMS will publicly report the facility-level risk standardized improvement rate (RSIR) or the % of patients who met or exceeded the threshold.

ASHOK PADHERIYA | CPO

Ashok Padheriya is the Chief Product Officer for Ohtari. With over 20 years of experience, Ashok is responsible for the company's product strategy, including development and delivery of solutions for all Ohtari supported industries and business domains. Ashok is a former Director of SiriusXM Satellite Radio Inc (the world's largest audio entertainment company which has 100M+ users and $8B+ revenue per year), where he spent 23 years and was responsible for managing various legal, compliance and cost sensitive enterprise programs, processes and controls. i.e. Data Gov/Compliance, Data Privacy, Cloud FinOps, and Operation Assurance. Prior to joining SiriusXM, Ashok held number of technical leadership positions with large telecom and satellite-based internet content companies i.e. Celforce (now Vodafone India), Shinawatra Telecommunication (Thailand), Cidera (USA). Ashok holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics.
 

SANJIV JAIN | ADVISOR

Sanjeev brings over 35 years of experience in Product Development, Business Strategy, Program Management and Business Operations at various software companies to Ohtari. His recent engagement was at Comcast Cable as Executive Director of Business Operations and Program Management, where he led the Office of the CIO for Financial, Resourcing and Program Management functions for a 5000 resource IT organization. Key areas of technology focus were Billing Systems and Data Systems. Prior to joining Comcast, Sanjeev was Vice President of Business Applications at SunRocket, Tech Director at America Online and US Interactive, where he led multiple Billing and CRM applications transformation programs. Sanjeev holds an MBA in Information Systems and a M.S. in Automation Systems.
